OptiMiser doesn’t support a “one-click” export of project file data to other formats. However, there are multiple options for extracting and converting information from OptiMiser.
First, and most useful is the Database Integrator tool. For a modest additional one-time fee, OptiMiser will enable and help you set up a tool that can connect to many popular data storage systems, including Excel, Access, Salesforce, and Filemaker. You pick the information you want to exchange, build a map between your database and OptiMiser using the Database Integrator connection wizard, and then you’re free to extract information from OptiMiser files to your database OR create OptiMiser files from information in your database. You can import/export single projects or a batch of projects. Contact info@optimiserenergy.com for more information.
Second, you can convert OptiMiser project files (.opt) to csv using any XML to CSV converter. There are many such free, web-based tools. Just search “xml to cdv converter.” The drawback with this method is that the project files contain a LOT of information, so it may be confusing as to what data points you need.
Third, you can create your own data export too in Excel. OptiMiser has a spreadsheet emulator built in that makes it easy to pull OptiMiser data into Excel. This forum post provides instructions and an example of building and using a custom Excel module: https://optimiserenergy.com/forums/topic/a-custom-module-to-add-better-best-reporting. When building a data export tool, the first step is going to be deciding what values to export. You can go through the interface and find the names of any controls you may want by right-clicking on them. When you have the custom Excel module built and loaded into OptiMiser (see the linked post for details) you’re going to complete or load a project file, then go to Tools>View User Modules, find your custom module, and choose “Save As” to save a version of it with the values from the current project. The drawback to this approach is you can only do one project at a time.
