There is a bug for existing users that edit the report template where going to the Report menu and selecting Edit Templates causes the program to crash. We have determined this is caused by a low level Microsoft bug.
We have two work arounds that will allow you to continue working and editing the report template:
1. Before you go to the Report menu and select Edit Template, select Generate Report first. After opening the Report Generator, close it and then go to the Report menu and select Edit Template. This is a more temporary work around that involves a minor intermediate step before you are able to edit the template as you have been.
2. Reinstalling OptiMiser is a more permanent fix (and will require no intermediate step like work around #1), but involves a more work initially from you. If you decide to do this, do not delete the old installation yet. Here are instructions on how you would go about installing the new installation:
A) Exit from the old OptiMiser application if it is open;
B) Download the OptiMiser installer application at http://db.tt/6CJU7oad and then run it – we will register it in the next step.
If you want to name this new installation “OptiMiser”, you will have to rename the old OptiMiser folder – I
usually just put an “X” in front so the old installation folder becomes XOptiMiser. The old OptiMiser folder
should be in a location like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\OptiMiser.C) In the directory for the old installation (now named either XOptiMiser or whatever name you gave it), please:
C1) Go in the Programs folder and copy the file OptiMiser_Registration.txt into the same relative location in the –new installation directory.
C2) Go in the Customization folder and then inside the Reports folder and you will see files like [OMPDF] Default.omr and [OMPDF] HPwES.omr which are examples of stock report selections files which tell the report which pages are on an off. If you have saved any custom selection files for your report ([OMPDF] MySelection.omr where “MySelection” is whatever you named the selection when you were in the Edit Templates window), you will want to copy them into the same relative location in the directory you just created for your new installation.
C3) Go in Customization folder and then inside the UI folder and copy DefaultValues.xl, and TemplateValues.xl (you may or may not have a TemplateValues file) and paste them into the same relative location in the new installation directory.
C4) If you have edited/added cost or measure items you should also go to the Databases folder and copy the Cost.db3
file into the same relative location in the new installation directory.D) Open the new OptiMiser installation (you should not be prompted to register because you moved the OptiMiser_Registration.txt file into the Program folder for the new installation in the previous steps first substep) and make sure the installation is up-to-date:
D1)Select “Check for Updates…” from the “Tools” menu;
D2)Select “Download New Weather Data” from the “Tools” menu. -
