Usage per day bill data can be accommodated using the Scrape Tool. The Scrape system can be set up by the user to handle a variety of situations, including the order of columns, calculated columns, etc. The instructions below show how to save a default Scrape setup to read bills entered in Usage/Day versus the usual Usage per bill.

Note: in the screenshots, the frames for gas usage have been closed to make the electric table larger to make data entry easier. Close and open frames by clicking on the frame banner (bar at the top that starts with a black arrow head).

Step-by-Step instructions to save setup for Usage/Day (see attached ScreenShotEnterUsagePerDayInScrape.JPG):

    1. Move the “Usage” column from the second column to the 7th.
    2. Add “Usage/Day” column label in column 2 – note that this label is not necessary – just added for clarity.
    3. Enter a formula to compute bill total usage.
      • Click in the first data row (row 2) of the Usage column.
      • Type in the formula as you would in a spreadsheet: type “=” and click in the Usage/Day column on the same row, type “*”, and then click in the Days column on the same row. Or type the formula as in the screenshot.
      • Hit enter.
    4. Copy the formula down the Usage column as you would in a spreadsheet:
      • Right click and select Copy in the cell where you typed the formula (or type Cntrl^c).
      • Highlight cells in the Usage column.
      • Right click and select Paste (or type Cntrl^v).
    5. Fill in Date, Usage/Day and Days columns, and Usage will be computed.
    6. Select Load Utility Bills.

To save this new version that will calculate Usage from usage/day (see attached ScreenShotUseSaveDefaultTitlesToSaveUsagePerDaySetup.JPG):

    1. Delete all the data in Date, Usage/Day, Days and other columns.
    2. Do not delete the header Usage/Day or the formulas in the Usage column.
    3. Click “Save Default Titles”.

The next time you reopen OptiMiser, the Scrape table will have all the columns in the same place, the Usage/Day header, and the formulas in the Usage column.
Let us know if this doesn’t work well for you.
