John – There is no need for the fuel dates to match the electric dates. If you only have one fuel and you are using the main interface, you simply need to change the Start Date Bill 1 and End Bill 1 to cover the heating season that matches your data. If you have multiple fuels, then you follow the steps I described earlier.

    Hi John,

To handle your situation, you need to use the Multiple Fuel selection in the Fuel Type control on the Utilities screen. On the Multiple Fuels popup, you pick a date range that covers the year(s) for which you have complete date for every fuel. You can enter individual delivery receipts in the table, if you want, or just scroll to the bottom and enter the totals.

It’s not clear to me if the 4 cords of wood in your example covers all three years or is just for the previous year. Assuming that is just the previous year, then you would enter a date range that covers all of the last heating season (e.g. 1/7/2013 – 1/7/2014) and then 850 gallons for the liquid fuel and 4 chords for the wood.

You charts were most likely not showing anything due to an error that we have just corrected. Look out for an email with more details and instructions on how to restore the charts.

I’m not sure what the problem is with the attachments, but another OptiMiser technician should be able to help.

NOTE: And error was discovered in V1 of the spreadsheet that prevented calculation of the final improved Assembly R-value. V2 is now attached.

Hi Kristin. Thanks for using the forum. However, for an issue like this where there is apparent misbehavior linked to a particular file, it is best to submit an error report. The error report securely delivers the project file and other information about your installation that we will need to diagnose this problem. Please continue to use the forum for how-to’s or other informational requests.

The EIA prices aren’t editable. However, you can set the $/therm control, right click on the control, and select Save as Default. Then the control will always load with that value and you can skip loading the EIA prices. There is also a Save button on the Utility Prices popup that allows you to save all of the price settings at once. I think we may also add a switch to disable that EIA message in a future release.

We don’t have a direct way to model changing the thermal boundary in the attic, but there is a workaround posted here: https://optimiserenergy.com/forums/topic/attic-thermal-boundary-roof-deck.

That post covers how move the location of the thermal boundary using the controls on the Attic and Vault/Flat pages. However, if the ducts are initially located in the attic, then you will have to change their location to Conditioned Space manually and include the ducts in the improvement package. This doesn’t happen automatically. The total energy savings for the procedure would then be the sum of the Attic, Vault/Flat, and Duct improvement rows.

Send an email to support@optimiserenergy.com requesting a switch. Include your license number, so that we can deactivate the old installation.

You should be able to enter only Electric bills in the lower table of the Scrape popup and import them without problem.  Make sure that you have all columns labeled correctly using the dropdown lists at the top  (with no duplicate labels in blank columns) and that you have a Date and Usage column.  If you still encounter an error, click the red ! button to submit an error report.

When you set the Condition control to “Conditioned crawl”, then the Cont Insul control switches over to Found Insul and represents insulation applied to the crawlspace wall.

You can specify separate insulation for the rim joist on the Rim Jsts popup, but we don’t analyze the savings separately.

The duct leakage on the main screen is “leakage to outside”, whereas the the control on the performance details popup is “total leakage”. Total leakage is not useful for modelling, but some auditors measure it an wish to record it.  If you are not using it, then you do not need to fill out that control.

There are two energy properties (A & B) that can be used in the specification of data base items.  Each property is described with three columns: the first is a description, the second a value, and the third a unit for the value.  For the case in your screen shot (attic insulation), Energy Property B is the “R/in” for the insulation.  Energy Property A is “Nominal Fill Insulation R-value”.  A measure that specifies the “Nominal Fill Insulation R-value”, must also specify a “R/in”, so that total thickness can be calculated.
