David,
Pool heaters can be modeled in OptiMiser, but the settings are buried a couple layers down. First switch the Appliances page to the detailed view, then scroll down and click the “Detail…” button to the right of one of the “Other %” controls. This will open a table that allows you to enter a variety of appliance end uses. The first section has rows for both electric and gas pool heaters. You can just enter quantities or you can set custom hours and power levels. Be sure to pay attention to both the Base and Improved columns. For heat pump pool heaters, you will definitely need to set custom power levels. Let me know if you have trouble finding these settings and I can post pictures.Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterWe are working on adding fan-coil systems. I can’t give you a release timeline, since it’s tied up with some other major changes that may take a while to work their way through testing and beta.
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterHi David – We have not yet added Fan Coil systems, but thanks for the reminder. Is this an urgent need for you?
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterOptiMiser does now support insulating frame floors over basements. The basement page now has a full set of insulation controls for floor insulation in addition to the set for wall insulation.
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterHi Nathan! Thanks for contributing to the forum. This was a pretty old thread and I think that the original post has been resolved. It’s not clear to me, if you were trying to help or if you were looking for an answer yourself. Please provide more details, if there is an issue that you need help with.
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterUPDATE: OptiMiser can now model voluntary window venting. When the occupants vent excess gains during the shoulder season, the effect described above is greatly reduced. You can turn on window venting using check boxes at the bottom of the cooling page.

Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterHi Elena,
The controls for roof type can be accessed by clicking the ||Path buttons on the detailed Attic and Ceiling (Vault/Flat) screens. There is one for each attic/ceiling area.
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterThe utility dates are currently set to default to the last full calendar year (i.e. Jan-Dec). I think that it might make sense to change that to the most recently available 12 months. It does seem that most users are entering data that way. I’ll look into it. Thanks!
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterIt sounds like maybe your first post was actually referring to a template project file that you created and not the DefaultValues.xl file. The DefaultValues.xl file stores defaults that you save using the right click menu on individual controls or through the Save Tab Values as Defaults menu item. These defaults are automatically loaded when you start OptiMiser. If what you actually did was save a template project file and you are opening it when you want to use it, then you will have to locate and move that project file to your other computer.
