The utility analysis automatically combines and analyzes all fuels entered in the main interface and on the Additional Fuels interface. However, they are not represented separately in most tables, graphs, and charts.
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterThe wall height should be the average floor-to-ceiling of all exterior walls.
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterThey only appear, when the improved Fuel is set to Electric. If the existing systems in not Electric, then you will have to go to the detailed screen to change the improved Fuel.
It sounds like it would be a good idea for us to add the Improved Fuel control to the simple screen.
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterThe Get Utils function is not based on the accounts that you entered. Get Utils looks for utility information linked to project in the Optix system. The function actually retrieves utility name, rate type, accounts numbers, and bills.
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterI assume that you are asking how to enter bills into OptiMiser. I can’t help you with Optix issues and I don’t think you can enter bills there.
The first thing you should do it click et Utils on the button bar to see if any bills have been queued for download since you got the project. If there are none, then you can manually enter the bills on the Multiple Accounts popup. The button is located below the regular electric bill controls. Once you have entered the bills on that table, OptiMiser will combine them and put the totals into the controls on the main interface.
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterPartially insulated basement walls have already been addressed in this post :https://optimiserenergy.com/forums/topic/what-do-i-do-when-a-basement-wall-is-only-partially-insulated. If you have further questions, please ask them there.
You can print the manual (or save it as pdf) by going to the Setup/Manual tab and pressing the Print button. This particular topic has not been added to the manual, but many others are covered.
Most of the manual has been linked to appropriate tabs/pages of the wizard. This enables access to the contextually appropriate sections, be pressing F1 when your mouse is not hovering over any particular control.
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterOutside dimensions are the standard for energy modeling. Here is a technical reference:
http://www.nrel.gov/docs/fy06osti/38600.pdf(See below for corrections)Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterWe have not added a separate set of continuous insulation controls to the Attic interface because the need is very rare and we wanted to avoid cluttering the interface. This is the first report that we have heard of rigid insulation installed under the ceiling joists. Continuous insulation can be simulated by describing all other aspects of the ceiling and then increasing cavity insulation until the Assembly R-value (view-able on the ||Path popup on the detailed screen) increases by the R-value total of the continuous insulation.
Cavity insulation in excess of the joist depth is automatically applied continuously. Currently this is done for all insulation types. I have created an issue ticket to add logic that avoids doing this when the text “batt” appears in the insulation description.
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterThanks, Chris. We will keep that in mind as we set priorities. It would be helpful, if you could privately email me a sample file, along with a description of the situation that you were trying to model.
Gamaliel LodgeKeymasterYou must use the detailed interface to access the third system. Go to the Heating page and click the “Switch to detailed” link at the top. There are buttons to access the second and third systems at the bottom of the detailed screen.
When you do a multiple fuel analysis, we can only work with the totals. This means there is no opportunity to dis-aggregate heating and base-load from the bills themselves. The totals are still useful for a whole building calibration. I should probably revise that message to make it more clear that the bills are still useful.
