April 21, 2015 at 2:14 pm in reply to: Norton Internet Security blocking and removing OptiMiser #4724Ryan MooreKeymaster
The Norton Security Suite has been particularly problematic in that it continues to detect OptiMiser as a threat. An OptiMiser user has recently called in with specific instructions for how to handle this for 2015 Norton Security Suite received through his Comcast subscription after he called Norton for assistance (Thank you, Michael R.!). Here are instructions he received from Norton Technical Support:
1) In Norton, navigate to Settings;
2) Navigate to Detailed Settings;
3) Go to Anti-Virus and then to Scans and Risks;
4) Scroll down to the section Exclusions/Low Risks, then look at Items to Exclude from Auto-Detect, SONAR, …
5) Click Add;
6) Add OptiMiser.Ryan MooreKeymasterI suspect that is a configuration settings issue with your installation of Parallels. I’m guessing that you might be running Parallels 10, and I am currently running Parallels 9 (I’ll be updating soon), but it’s likely the configuration settings are similar. I’ve attached a screenshot of what I have set in my copy of Parallels 9 (to get to this, I selected the menu “Virtual Machine->Configure…” in Parallels and then selected the “Sharing” tab from along the left sidebar). You might find your configuration needs some adjustments to open things up between the Windows side and the Mac side.
As a side note, my personal preference is to run my version of Parallels in “Modality Mode” rather than “Coherence Mode” or “Full Screen Mode”. I find this allows me to keep the environments a little more separated and identifiable, but this is just a personal preference – it should not affect the way the Parallels configuration operates.
Ryan MooreKeymasterSeems to be the case that the forum doesn’t handle .tiff files. I’ll see if there’s a fix, but in the mean time is there any way you can convert it locally and send it up in a different format? Thanks!
Ryan MooreKeymasterI’m presuming you are doing this with the intent to make use of these files on a different computer – if your use is for something different, please let me know the scenario and I’ll try to reply to that.
One method is to simply copy (or move) the files to your Windows Desktop. When you do that, the files should then simultaneously be visible on the Mac Desktop and you can then treat them just like any other file on the Mac (copy, move, drag-and-drop, throw in the trash, etc.).
Ryan MooreKeymasterAlso, to move your custom defaults, measures, costs, and reports, here’s a thread: https://optimiserenergy.com/forums/topic/how-to-copy-all-your-defaults-and-customizations-to-a-new-installation
Ryan MooreKeymasterOpen the original test-in project file. Open the APS popup. Change the audit phase to retrofit. Now just change the “Improved” side controls to reflect what was actually done. So, if there were measures proposed but not completed, deselect them from the package. Adjust any values on the “Improved” side and in the CAZ testing interface to reflect any measurements you took during test-out. Back on the APS popup, make sure there aren’t any items on the “Issues requiring attention” list. Click the “Get HPXML” button. Save your HPXML file and upload it to Optix.
Ryan MooreKeymasterI’ve never seen that message before about it being protected. Please email to set up a time when we can look at it together. Hopefully we can figure out what setting in Adobe Reader is causing it! I’ll Google around a bit in the meantime.
Ryan MooreKeymasterFrom Gamaliel:
It sounds like you are describing an unconditioned attic, where the
insulation was placed in the roof deck instead of the attic floor. If
there is any means of decent air exchange between the attic and the
conditioned space or any actual conditioned air delivered to the attic,
then this should be treated as a vaulted ceiling and modeled on the
Vault/Flat tab. You should model two separate areas to account for the
insulation that has fallen down. Model one area at 95% total area with the
insulation installed. Model the second area at 5% of the total area, with
no insulation. Then model the improvement (i.e. replacing the batts) to
that second area. You will also want to model the gable walls on the Walls
tab.If the attic is really totally unconditioned then this is a trickier
situation. Are the gable walls insulated as well? Is there a floor in the
attic, creating a fairly isolated air space between the attic and
conditioned space?Ryan MooreKeymasterThis is a tough one (for me, anyway). Our pro, Gamaliel, is travelling today, but I’m sure he’ll have some ideas for you, soon.
Ryan MooreKeymasterThis has been fixed in version 3.0.4x.
